What would have happened if the toss in The Girls of S.L.E.E.P. -N.C.U. - Part 3, had landed in Cheyenne's favor instead of Laura's? Would Cheyenne find a way to hypnotize the excitable blonde? Or would she fail and end up going under regardless? This is just a teaser of the alternate ending I wrote to investigate that question, the rest of it is available on my Patreon Page!
“So, who has number 2?” Trisha said, eyes gleaming as she looked out at her audience.
The room was silent as the others looked down at their tickets. Finally, Cheyenne and Laura both slowly began to raise their hands as both of their faces turned red with embarrassment. “Well don’t just sit there, come on up. Move it, move it, move it!” Trisha shouted playfully, clapping her hands in an attempt to get them up and moving.
Both girls slowly moved to the front of the room and looked around, glancing at one another nervously. “You ready for this?” Laura asked, smiling as her nervousness began to give way to adrenaline.
Cheyenne, however, was having a very different reaction to their situation. “I guess.” she replied, shrugging off her own embarrassment. “Just don’t hold it against me if this doesn’t work the way you expect it to.”
Trisha smiled and stepped between them, balancing the quarter on her thumb. “Heads it’s Cheyenne, tails it’s Laura. Ready?” Trisha asked as she looked between the two. Both shook their heads in agreement and, without further adieu, the older girl flipped the coin. The two blondes at center staged watched intently as it rose into the air and hit the floor with a ‘ting!’ It spun a few more times before it finally fell on its side and landed on...
Laura frowned as she realized she had lost the toss. Cheyenne’s response, however, was far more entertaining. “Wait…I have to go first?” she asked as she looked to Trisha for confirmation. “What the hell do I know about hypnosis? I don’t even think this stuff is real! How would I…WHY would I try and hypnotize her?”
“Well…” Trisha began as her brain tried to come up with a believable answer, “that’s why you’re here. This is a hypnosis sorority, after all.”
“I’m here to support you guys, not try and join! I don’t know the first thing about hypnotizing someone!” Cheyenne shouted, both frustrated and embarrassed by the situation she found herself in. She felt like she had shown up for a test without studying, and she hated that feeling.
For once, Trisha had no idea of what to do. Meanwhile, the rest of the girls in the audience seemed noticeably embarrassed by the scene in front of them. Fortunately, Laura knew Cheyenne well enough to know just how to push her buttons and get the reaction they wanted. “It’s ok.” the curly haired blonde started as a devious grin spread across her face. “No one here actually expects you to be able to hypnotize me. I mean, you’re just a cosplay enthusiast. You don’t know anything about hypnosis and you’re totally out of your element.” The entire remark was designed as a polite way out for Cheyenne. But Laura knew that, eventually, her ego would get the best of her and she would see it as a challenge.
She was right.
Cheyenne looked at Laura, shocked and slightly offended. “Are you saying you don’t think I’m smart enough to be able to hypnotize you?” she asked, folding her arms and glaring at her friend.
Laura gave her a cluelessly innocent, and obviously well practiced, smile. “Of course not! I’m just saying you’re not prepared, and can’t be expected to perform on such short notice.” she said, still giving her the same practiced expression.
Cheyenne inhaled sharply through her nose as her eyes looked like they were about to start glowing with rage. She paused for a moment, exhaled, and put on her own polite, but fake, smile. “You always enjoyed going to the Ren Faire as an elf, didn’t you Laura?” she asked, tilting her head and taking a few steps closer to Laura with a look of determination in her eyes.
Laura smiled, knowing that her little plan had worked, and was quite pleased that she had successfully managed to prod her friend into hypnotizing someone. Of course, she hadn’t realized that someone who was going to be hypnotized...was her. “Of course!” she beamed excitedly, as the thought of what was about to happen completely slipped her mind. “You know I love elves and magic!”
Cheyenne’s smile turned even more devious. “Oh I know. You remember the game we both used to play…I forget its name…but in it there was a little elf running around, trying to save the princess. And you had the ability to use songs to do certain things…you remember that, right?”
Laura nodded her head and giggled. She was about to point out the name of the game, but Cheyenne, whose frustration would not allow her to be interrupted, cut her off. “And you remember there was that one song…that you could play and it would put the person into a trance…and then you could control them. You remember that, right?”
Laura nodded again. “The command melody.” she replied. “But that was played on a flute…and you don’t have a flute.” she said with a sly grin.
“No, I don’t.” Cheyenne remarked, just as she inhaled and began to sing. It was a beautiful, almost haunting, version of the song. Her voice was perfect, and in the small room where it echoed gently off of the hard surfaces, it created a somewhat eerie effect as her voice seemed to come from all sides.
