Five Nights At Spirals - Prologue

 Key: MC, Plot

Description: In a dark security office, in a hypnosis themed nightclub, a single guard must try to keep track of the roaming hypnotists hell bent on enthralling her mind. Can Lindsey make it through Five Nights at Spirals?

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon for Lindsey as she sat in her studio apartment, lounging near the window while she read a soothing romance novel. Of course, her peace was short-lived when her phone went off a few moments later. It was her sister Jennifer’s ringtone.

“Hey sis,” she said, reaching for her bookmark. “What’s up?”

“Hey Linds! So...umm...how would you feel about getting a job?” the noticeably nervous voice on the phone replied, getting straight to the point.

“I see you’ve been talking to Dad…” Lindsey said with a sigh as she settled into the couch. Clearly her peaceful weekend was about to be shattered by the constant nagging of her overly involved family. “You two should know better than anyone that it’s hard enough just being a police cadet. Why do you need to be on my back about this? ”

Settling In - Spirals - Part 3

 Key: MD, MC, Hypno, Plot

Description: In an effort to calm his temper, Xander stops by a coffee shop and finds the perfect tool to get his revenge on Nadia.

Xander was walking through the streets of New Chicago like a man on a mission…but in reality he had nowhere to go. He was just...angry. His encounter with Nadia at Spirals had put a completely opposite spin on what was supposed to be a fresh start for him. Now he was being asked to work with a woman who was instrumental in his ending up in a Depressor for ten years. A woman who, as far as he was concerned, was responsible for destroying his life.

He took a few more steps and then stopped, balling up his fists and grunting through his teeth in frustration. It wasn’t really Nadia’s fault…not entirely, anyway. She did throw him under the bus, to save her own skin no less, but he had also let the Depressor win. She didn’t drive away the people in his  life…he did. And he knew it.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, focusing on the tension and anger in his body and pushing it down into his chest. At least he could keep it stored there until he could safely punch something. Repeatedly.

Finally, with his temper under control again, he continued down the street and began planning his next move. Revenge was such a costly endeavour, but so worthwhile in the end. But what was the best way to go about this? He pondered for a while until the simplest solution came to him. “The best revenge…is success,” he mused to himself with a smile. If the hypnotist wanted to go against him, he’d show her who was better at mind control. After all, he was an incubus.

The End of the Beginning Part 2: A Fresh Start

Continued from Part 1 :The Depressor

Key: Plot, Rant,

I ran home as quickly as I could; along the way I couldn't help but feel this crushing pain as I passed places and people that I used to know only to have missed them changing so much over the last ten years. Was I really so absorbed that I had missed all of this? Was that even possible?

When I got to my penthouse I felt a sigh of relief. I had hypnotized the owner of the building when I moved into the city and in return I had been given the penthouse of the building. It was lovely, with the perfect view of the city, and I was pleased to see that the building and my good old front door still looked the same. Sometimes we take comfort in little things, and that's okay.

End of the Beginning, Part 1: The Depressor

Key: MC, MD, Plot, Rant

My name is Xander Knave and I am an incubus, a type of immortal energy draining, hypnotic, dream inducing, sexually minded demon. And it's time my story took a new turn. For several years I had been living in the same city, one that was as diverse as you could imagine. Creatures of all walks of life lived here and science was given free reign without care. It was like a paradise. There was even a scientist, a professor who, with the help of his grandson, had managed to hypnotize a group of young women all to live together under the same roof. Several humans including a starlet and a mage, an Elvish princess, a Genie, an Angel, a Cyborg, even a Succubus.

I first encountered this group at a nightclub, called Spirals.  I was busy doing what I do, looking for young women to drain of their precious energy, only to leave them completely unconscious with nothing but a vague memory of an erotic dream. And then something in this night club caught my attention; it was full of hypnotic energy, technology, skilled hypnotists, if it could put a person into a trance it was in there.  I witnessed the girls I mentioned above and several others all band together to defeat an evil hypnotist I would later come to know as Nadia.

Lost Tales: The 12 Nuts of Christmas, Part 10 - LIam

It was a pleasant December afternoon, as Liam was pacing back and forth in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Ballroom. It was a clear day and the sun was shining and it wasn’t very cold. But he had been pacing back and forth for so long that he had practically created his own groove in the side walk. He had arrived at noon, and it was now coming up on three O’clock. And he had been pacing back and forth, back and forth that whole time.

Finally his watch went off, and he looked around, right on schedule he could see Larka coming around the corner. Her long trench coat covered up most of her body but she still managed to look beautiful in the cold air. He only afforded himself a moment before he pulled his hood up over his head. He didn’t want her to spy him and try to avoid him. She was here to see him, she just didn’t know about it yet.

Lost Tales: The 12 Nuts of Christmas, Part 7 - Nick

December 19th
Nick was wandering the mall, he was in search of something, something very specific and he wasn’t going to leave until he found it. He had scanned all of the lower level stores and was moving up the escalator, scanning looking around for what it was that he truly wanted to find this Christmas.

Then he saw it, at the far end of the mall he got a glimpse of what it was he wanted most. He started to move through the crowds as fast as he could, excusing himself as he moved around person after person, zigging and zagging through the crowd. He finally made it to the store that had what he wanted. Moving in and wiggling around the patrons and store shelves till he arrived at the front counter, and with all the glee in the world, grabbed the shoplifting elf by the back of the head and slammed his head into the counter.

Got ya, you little…” Nick was cut off by the elf elbowing him in head. He slid back and perked up with a huge grin. “Now were talking!” he said with glee as he moved in and decked the elf clean in the face. The elf fell back into a display full of cookie jars, and managed to hit a shelf on the wall full of cookie jars. In classic cartoon fashion the jars started to slide off the shelf, one by one. And, one by one, they all slammed into the top of the elf’s head.
